Seminar on WTO GPA Obligations and International Best Practices in Public Procurement in Armenia

CLDP, in partnership with the WTO Secretariat, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the Ministry of Finance of Armenia, will hold a Seminar on the WTO Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) Obligations and International Best Practices in Public Procurement in Yerevan. This one day program for approximately 100 government officials, contracting entities, and municipalities will offer information on Armenia’s rights and obligations per the WTO GPA. The program will be led by the WTO Secretariat, a U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Specialist, and a Trade Consultant who was formerly the Senior Procurement Negotiator with the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

Workshops to Promote Intellectual Property as a Tool to Accelerate Knowledge-Based Economic Development in Armenia

CLDP helped to support the development of intellectual property as a tool to accelerate knowledge-based economic development in Armenia through a technical assistance program and an assessment trip, which took place on December 9-12, 2013 in Yerevan, Armenia. Professors and IP specialists from the University of New Hampshire School of Law traveled to Armenia to spend a week training professors and faculty members from the American University of Armenia and law schools in Armenia in the development of intellectual property curriculum, intellectual property instruction, and the creation of an intellectual property legal clinic.

Public Awareness Raising Workshop on Collective Copyright Management in Armenia

As part of a multi-phase technical assistance project on capacity building and public awareness engagement on collective copyright management with Armauthor, CLDP held a one-day awareness raising workshop in cooperation with Armauthor on September 6, 2013.  Armauthor is the sole collective copyright management organization (CMO) of authors’ rights and related rights in Armenia. Workshop attendees included Armenian government representatives, local businesses, and rights holders, to discuss the importance of collective copyright management and impediments to its effective enforcement in Armenia.

US Consultations on Collective Management of Copyright and Related Rights for Armenia

CLDP hosted a delegation from Armauthor, the only collective copyright management organization of authors’ rights and related rights in Armenia, as well as representatives from the Intellectual Property Agency of Armenia and the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, for consultations in Washington, D.C. and New York City.

CLDP Sponsors Armenian and Georgian Technology Transfer Leaders to Attend AUTM Annual Meeting

CLDP sponsored the participation of three technology transfer specialists from Armenia and one technology transfer specialist from Georgia to attend the 2013 Association of Technology Managers (AUTM) Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas on February 27 – March 2, 2013.  The event gave the participants an opportunity to participate in interactive workshops designed for technology transfer managers and to network with seasoned technology transfer professionals to guide the progress of their newly established centers.
