Understanding Power Project Financing

As part of the "Understanding Series" of reference handbooks published by Power Africa, in February 2016, CLDP (in partnership with the African Legal Support Facility) brought together a group of world-class legal, policy and financial experts to draft a guide on power project financing. The new handbook, Understanding Power Project Financing, is the culmination of months of consultations with public and private sector stakeholders from Africa, the United States and Europe. The handbook is intended to provide decision-makers with an overview of the structuring of private investment and financing for power projects and insight into the important supporting role that governments play.

 CLDP conducted Petroleum Accounting, Valuation and Revenue Management consultations for a six-member delegation from the Ministry of Mining of Mongolia (MOM), the Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (PAM) and the World Bank.

Understanding Power Purchase Agreements

In early November 2014, CLDP (in partnership with the African Legal Support Facility) brought together a group of international experts to draft and publish a handbook on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). The handbook is intended to provide an overview of PPAs and the obligations, risks and remedies that are found within them.  The group of experts, all whom contributed their time on a pro-bono basis, included contributors from governments, development banks, private banks and leading international law firms.

CLDP Celebrates 20 years!

Begun as a small joint venture between USAID and Commerce to help the Former Soviet Bloc countries of Eastern Europe transition to more market-oriented economies, CLDP has expanded to help meet the legal technical assistance needs of more than 50 countries in Eurasia, Africa, the Middle East and South Asia. On February 23rd, CLDP celebrated 20 years of technical assistance in commercial law.

The Global Shale Gas Initiative (GSGI) is a cross-governmental effort led by the Department of State (Office of International Energy Affairs) to help key U.S. allies strengthen their energy security through the production of shale gas.
