Vanessa Padilla

International Program Specialist

Vanessa Padilla is an International Program Specialist with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce. Ms. Padilla works on the Cyber and Telecommunications portfolio, supporting key international projects and policy development globally.

Before joining CLDP, Ms. Padilla served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cebu, Philippines, where she worked as a Coastal Resource Management volunteer. She focused on economic development by leveraging local resources and initiatives supporting sustainable practices. She helped establish a mini-mobile library for rural communities, conducted biophysical assessments to promote sustainable coastal activities, and supported initiatives within the tourism sector to drive local economic growth. Prior to Peace Corps Ms. Padilla was an AmeriCorps Traditional National Civilian Community Corps member in the Southern Region serving on projects focusing on natural disaster response and recovery, environmental stewardship, and urban development. 

Ms. Padilla holds a B.A. in Geography with a concentration in Geospatial Technologies, along with a Minor in Environmental and Natural Resource Studies. She is fluent in Spanish and has intermediate proficiency in Visayan/Cebuano.
