On January 12-15, CLDP held consultations in Singapore for energy officials from the Government of Pakistan on best practices in gas market regulation. The workshop was part of CLDP's ongoing support for the Government of Pakistan's efforts to bridge the gap in natural gas supply in Pakistan, which will contribute to economic development. CLDP energy law experts gave presentations on establishing competitive domestic gas markets that drive investment and efficiently connect supply and demand, including practical examples of market assessment tools and case studies of regulatory successes from markets around the world. Several useful policy strategies were identified by Pakistani officials during the program, which will be used in a follow-on workshop to be held in Islamabad in March.
