On October 27 and 28, 2015, CLDP held a seminar for Pakistan government telecommunications officials in Islamabad on current issues in the information and technology sector, including regulatory challenges and opportunities of new technology and the convergence of services, the introduction of new services, licensing, broadband and Internet connectivity, emergency communications, consumer protection, spectrum policy, cybersecurity, and regulatory processes.  CLDP, the Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) and the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) jointly sponsored this workshop.  It was attended by officials from the PTA, the Ministry of Information Technology, and the Frequency Allocation Board.

CLDP Attorney-Advisor Joe Gattuso moderated the seminar in conjunction with PTA Chairman Syed Ismail Shah and PTA staff members. The sessions consisted of presentations combined with interactive discussions.  The Deputy Chief of the FCC’s International Bureau led most of the sessions, with some topics addressed by Gattuso and a session on emergency communications given by the CEO of the National Emergency Numbering Association.
