After training six Sri Lankan law school teams over five months to prepare them in oral and written advocacy, CLDP held its first Sri Lanka National Vis Moot Competition from October 7-10, 2018. The Royal Institute of Colombo College of Law prevailed as champion, and the University of Colombo College of Law placed second. The two winning teams will advance to represent Sri Lanka in the Willem C Vis Moot Competition in Hong Kong in April 2019. CLDP will continue to train both teams and help them prepare for the Hong Kong competition. 

CLDP’s Vis students from last year have been helping coach the six teams and will continue to work with the students through April. The Vis Moot is the most prestigious commercial law and international arbitration competition in the world. Through this competition, CLDP helps develop advocacy and analytical skills as well as international arbitration skills of the future lawyers in Sri Lanka, which will help improve the contracts enforcement mechanism in Sri Lanka.
