From August 20-22, 2023, CLDP held a Judicial Exchange on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The goal of the program was to support the Pakistan Supreme Court-led ADR Task Force on developing a national ADR framework and strategy. The exchange gathered judges from Malaysia and experts from Singapore and the United States.

The group first focused on building the overall ecosystem for a successful ADR regime within a country. The group then focused on the specifics of creating court-annexed and independent ADR Centers. Experts and participants shared examples and case studies from their respective ADR systems, and provided practical tips and lessons learned on how to develop a successful, efficient, and effective ADR regime. The delegation also visited the Asian International Arbitration Center and the Kuala Lumpur High Court Mediation Center.

At the conclusion, the program informed the Pakistan ADR Task Force’s development of its ADR strategy to enable Pakistan to take concrete, actionable next steps in creating a successful ADR system within the country.
