The Georgian Association of Arbitrators (GAA), in cooperation with the Commercial Law Development Program of the U.S. Department of Commerce (CLDP), have successfully conducted the Borjomi Summer School for Georgian Law Students from 6 – 11 September. Over the last week, 24 students from 13 different universities all around Georgia have had the chance to learn from leading Georgian arbitration practitioners. Topics such as: arbitration agreements, ad hoc and institutional arbitration structures, applicable law and rules, selection of arbitrators, impartiality and independence, proceedings, awards, recognition and enforcement of awards, and set-aside mechanisms were all covered and students had the chance to play our several scenarios and engaged in small group discussions on these topics. All the participating students received certificates which confirm their successful completion of this intensive week long course and symbolize yet another step towards a successful future career in the field of international arbitration.
