On November 9th, CLDP conducted an Award Writing Training for 11 Maldivian arbitrators. This workshop was led by Ms. Aarta Alkarimi of Chrysalis International Legal Advisors – an arbitrator and arbitration practitioner based in Dubai. Ms. Alkarimi provided an in-depth review of the principles of the arbitration process, leading to the drafting, recognition, and enforcement of an arbitration award. The Maldivian arbitrators who attended this workshop represented experienced practitioners from the Maldivian legal community. These participants included the General Counsel for the Bank of Maldives, numerous partners from Maldives’ leading law firms, as well as lawyers from various government ministries. This program was a part of CLDP’s effort to help create a functioning arbitration center in the Maldives and to help improve contracts enforcement mechanism in the Maldives through arbitration.
