CLDP has collaborated with the Government of Egypt on antitrust issues dating back to the development of Egypt's Competition Law and the establishment of the Egyptian Competition Authority. Three officials from the Egyptian Competition Authority were hosted to participate in the Fordham Annual Conference on International Antitrust Law and Policy in New York City. CLDP leveraged their presence in the United States to organize and extended program that promotes the objectives below. These objectives are an intermediate step toward achieving greater regulatory transparency and openness to competition. Event Objectives: The main objectives of these consultations are: 1) To equip the participating officials with an in depth understanding of the most current challenges faced by competition authorities throughout the world, and their approaches to facing them. 2) To boost, regionally, an international regulatory dialogue and cooperation in the area of competition. 3) To gain an understanding of the approach in US law schools to teaching Competition (Antitrust) Law. The Egyptian Officials will participate in the Fordham Annual Conference on International Antitrust Law and Policy in New York City. Following this program they traveled to Washington where they will have special meetings with the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice and various representatives from the private sector, academia and multilateral organizations.
