On February 2-3, 2023, CLDP, in coordination with the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Law, hosted a two-day workshop which aims to provide an overview of arbitration principles and best practices to private sector participants in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to local private sector experts and professors, arbitration experts from the US private sector traveled to Sarajevo to share international best practices. Topics covered included an overview of arbitration as well as private sector perspectives and challenges and practical examples on how to negotiate arbitration clauses and how to pick an arbitrator. Arbitration as an alternate dispute resolution mechanism is severely underused in BiH and thus the goal of the program is to raise awareness and technical capacity of practitioners in arbitration.
