On February 9-13, 2016 in Manama, CLDP hosted the 6th Annual Middle East Vis Pre-Moot, in coordination with Bahrain Center of Disputes and Resolutions (BCDR), the Royal University for Women, Mena Chambers, and the University of Pittsburg (CILE). The Vis Pre-Moot was 5-day event that brought together 13 teams from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia to compete in the regional event. The program also prepared these regional teams to compete in the Annual Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot in Vienna and Hong Kong.

This year's winner is the all-women team from Dar Al Hekma School of Law & Diplomacy from Saudi Arabia. Qualified semi-finalists include teams from American University of Afghanistan (AUAF), Royal University for Women, and University of Bahrain.

Simultaneously, CLDP and its program partners hosted a one-day regional arbitration roundtable for 50 arbitrators who chaired the Pre-Moot competition rounds. The event was attended by UNCITRAL representative, and other renowned international and regional arbitration practitioners.

Building the capacity of legal professionals in arbitration will improve economic opportunities in the region by resolving commercial disputes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
