CLDP Hosts U.S. Judicial Consultations on Bankruptcy and Insolvency

-

CLDP held a week-long U.S. Judicial Consultations on Bankruptcy and Insolvency for a delegation of judges from Armenia. The delegation included four Armenian judges and the rector of the Academy of Justice of Armenia. Armenia recently reformed its bankruptcy law. The amendments were made to support and encourage reorganizations and business rescue, rather than liquidation, as goals of the bankruptcy process. The new law also strives to improve the efficiency of bankruptcy adjudication process, increase oversight of bankruptcy administrators, and assign bankruptcy disputes to specialized judges. The program aims to educate the judges who will specialize in bankruptcy disputes in best practices of bankruptcy adjudication. The delegation  attended hearings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, meetings of creditors, met with the Executive and regional offices of the U.S. Trustee, and discussed practice with bankruptcy practitioners.
