CLDP Leads Commerce Delegation to Iraq to Expand Cooperation in Telecommunications and the Internet

Representatives of CLDP and the International Trade Administration's Iraq and Afghanistan Reconstruction and Investment Task Force were in Baghdad, Iraq in late January to move forward with several technical assistance projects related to telecommunications and the Internet. 
Following a workshop that the delegation organized, Government of Iraq agreed to move forward with a technical assistance program to help Iraq develop a written, coordinated national strategy on cybersecurity.  A cybersecurity strategy would help businesses as well as government agencies better develop their use of communication networks. The delegation also met with the Iraqi parliamentary committee responsible for drafting basic telecommunications legislation to follow-up on consultations organized by CLDP last summer and it participated in a U.S.-Iraq ICT Working Group under the Strategic Framework agreement.
