April 24 - 28, 2023 Previous Next From April 24-28, CLDP and the U.S. Embassy Bogotá hosted a delegation of senior Colombian officials in Washington, DC and New York to provide technical assistance on critical next-generation mobile wireless technology such as OpenRAN. This engagement comes at a particularly important time for Colombia as it prepares a spectrum tender and its mobile network operators prepare for 5G deployment. Prior CLDP engagements August and September lay the groundwork for the reverse trade mission, engaging civil servants and leadership in the most up-to-date information about 5G and OpenRAN. During this engagement, senior decision makers spoke directly with vendors like Viavi Solutions and Cisco to see how OpenRAN is ready to be deployed immediately and will offer dynamic solutions. Additional goals of this mission are to encourage the Colombian government to consider certain World Radio Conference positions of the United States and talk to the government about connectivity solutions for difficult and hard to reach areas of the country.
