CLDP convened a four-day workshop for officials from ministries and agencies tasked with the protection and administration of food safety, and plant and animal health. This workshop, the third in a series focusing on agriculture, was conducted with the expert advice and participation of officials from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Codex Alimentarius Commission (Codex), and the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). Through presentations, discussions, and bilateral meetings, the workshop explored, inter alia, the procedures for the control, inspection, and approval of SPS measures, as well as afford the delegates the opportunity to develop a mechanism (working group) by which they can better coordinate and address procedural inefficiencies and common SPS issues.
