Eastern Europe: CLDP to Conduct Two-Week Virtual Vis Moot Written Argument Training

-

From October 5-23, CLDP, in coordination with Association ARBITRI and University of Pittsburgh Faculty of Law, will hold a two-week virtual training to prepare law students from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Kosovo,  and Belarus for the 28th Willem C. Vis Moot competition (Vis Moot) that will take  place virtually in March 2021. CLDP’s training will focus on topics that include an overview of a complex commercial dispute and applicable legal principles, as well as presentations and discussions focusing on the procedural and substantive issues relevant to the dispute, respectively. CLDP’s Vis Moot teams have also been invited to attend a live virtual class with University of Pittsburgh School of Law.  In addition to training and preparing the students, CLDP will continue its Training of Trainer (ToT) for coaches and faculty involved with the Vis Moot program.  The ToT training will focus on skills and best practices of coaching a Vis Moot Team, how coaches can find and secure funding for teams, and challenges teams may face in a virtual competition.

The Vis Moot is the most prestigious international moot on commercial arbitration where more than 400 teams from over 100 countries compete on oral and written advocacy. The Vis Moot experience helps equip the participating students with the skills necessary to handle commercial business disputes and bolsters the rule of law in their respective countries.
