Over five sessions between October 2024 and January 2025, CLDP implemented, in partnership with the Georgian International Arbitration Centre (GIAC) and the Center for International Commercial and Investment Arbitration (CICIA) at Columbia Law School, the Certificate Course in Arbitration for Georgian Lawyers. This program provided a unique training opportunity for 25 Georgian litigators to learn the intricacies of arbitration practice from 10 leading global arbitration practitioners drawn from leading arbitration centers, firms, and universities in London, Paris, New York, Stockholm, Singapore, and Vilnius. Program attendees received 40 hours of training from these leading practitioners on every aspect of arbitration practice, from the execution of an arbitration agreement, initiation to conclusion of an arbitration proceeding, recognition and enforcement of awards, and investor-state arbitration. CLDP anticipates continuing this partnership for future legal education efforts that will further develop the capacity of Georgian arbitrators and the arbitration ecosystem in Georgia.
