On June 23, CLDP, in coordination with Morocco’s General Treasury Office (TGR), conducted a workshop on US and international best practices in incorporating value for money principles in public procurements. The workshop was attended by high level procurement policy officials from Morocco’s National Committee on Public Procurement, auditors from its Chamber of Accounts, and operational personnel from the TGR. Utilizing expertise from CLDP and the General Services Administration (GSA), the workshop discussed key concepts and tools needed to conduct procurements based on value for money criteria. Morocco is in the process of overhauling its procurement system through comprehensive legislative reform and an extensive modernization of its digital platforms and has requested CLDP’s technical assistance to ensure that value for money principles are effectively incorporated in their reforms. The workshop is part of CLDP’s multi-phase programming funded by State’s Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) to help Morocco improve the transparency and effectiveness of its procurement system.
