On June 16, CLDP, in cooperation with ITA, hosted a webinar for Algerian and Tunisian franchisees on sustaining operations amidst challenges posed by COVID-19. Carl Zwisler, Senior Counsel at Lathrop GPM, and Bill Schrieber, Executive Director of Mathnasium Inc., discussed the importance of updating franchise agreements, having business interruption insurance, making adaptations to leases, royalties and fees, and adjusting price models when shifting from in-person to virtual services. In Tunisia and Algeria, franchising is a significant driver for developing small and mid-sized enterprises, creating jobs, and diversifying the economy. COVID-19’s commercial impact jeopardizes franchisees essential contribution to the economy.
