From August 4-15, CLDP, in partnership with the UAE Ministry of Justice (MoJ), conducted a judicial training consultation in Washington DC and New York City for a group of thirteen UAE judges and officials from the UAE MoJ.
The UAE officials had fruitful meetings with judges, practitioners, professors, and lawyers across the US government and in the private sector. Positive developments were made in how to leverage best judicial administrative practices and the role of judges in insolvency and arbitration proceedings, two areas critical to the economic development of the UAE. Given the success of the judicial training programming, CLDP will work closely with the MoJ to provide further judicial training in Winter 2015. Currently five of the UAE judges are participating in two-week long intensive internships with US federal judges to further learn about court proceedings and administration with the goal of adopting best practices for their respective courtrooms in the UAE.
