CLDP, in coordination with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, supported a series of seven trainings for over 80 Uzbek government officials from the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Capital Markets Development Department (CMDD), the Central Bank, the Ministry of Justice, and several judicial branches. The trainings relied on real-world examples to illustrate the economic benefits of securities markets regulation based on international best practices and the draft model law CLDP and its team of advisors recently provided to the MoF and CMDD. These trainings helped broaden officials’ knowledge of areas they will regulate under the new law. Well-regulated, competitive, and innovative capital markets can offer significant resources to help Uzbekistan meet its economic development goals.
