From September 12-13, in coordination with Kosovo Customs, CLDP conducted a workshop on single window and cross-border management for 26 customs officials in Pristina, Kosovo. Following Kosovo’s accession to the World Customs Organization (WCO) in March 2017, Kosovo Customs’ leadership requested assistance with designing and implementing a single window customs system in line with WCO standards. In response, CLDP organized this workshop, intended to give an overview of single window and provide best practices and lessons learned from several countries that have implemented single window, including the United States.

The program focused on interagency coordination, data analytics and harmonization, and risk management, all key considerations for developing a single window customs system.  To deliver this training, CLDP called upon the expertise of a Polish customs expert who is currently serving at the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (both Poland and Ukraine have recently implemented single window systems), as well as two experts from US Customs and Border Protection. This event was part of a series of workshops aimed at building the capacity of Kosovo Customs to effectively facilitate trade across borders and promote a climate favorable to international commerce and investment.
