In coordination with U.S. Embassy Skopje, CLDP will continue to support the development of an investment screening mechanism in the Republic of North Macedonia.  North Macedonia currently lacks a legal framework for investment screening and remains vulnerable to potentially malign foreign investments that could undermine critical infrastructure, data security, and strategic sectors. By continuing to support the development of an investment screening law and providing sustained technical assistance, CLDP—together with the U.S. interagency—aims to assist the Government with establishing and implementing a robust investment screening framework, while also helping fulfill key EU requirements for member states. CLDP plans to complete a comprehensive assessment of the recent developments in investment screening in June and hold a workshop with experts from EB, Treasury, and the EU for relevant stakeholders in July.
