Alexa Black

International Program Specialist

Alexa Black is an International Program Specialist with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP). She works primarily on programs in Central Asia.

Prior to joining CLDP, Ms. Black worked as a research assistant at the Hoover Institution where she focused on Cold War intelligence history. She was also a recipient of the David L. Boren Scholarship, through which she studied Russian at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Almaty, Kazakhstan while working as a translator at a local news website.

Ms. Black received a Master of Arts in Russian, East European, and Eurasian studies from Stanford University. Her research focused on nation building and national identity in post-Soviet Central Asia. She received her BA in History and English from the University of California, Los Angeles. She speaks Russian.
