Austen Walsh

Attorney-Advisor (International)

Austen Walsh is an Attorney-Advisor (International) on the Latin America and Caribbean team with the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) in the Office of the General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Prior to Joining CLDP, Austen was an Attorney-Advisor with the Regulations and Rulings Directorate within the Office of Trade at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“CBP”).  During his time at CBP, Austen focused on matters related to customs valuation, country of origin, and product eligibility for preferential trade programs.  He was recognized with the Commissioner’s Award for Stakeholder Engagement in 2019. Prior to his government service, Austen was an associate attorney in the private sector focusing on anticorruption investigations and customs compliance. 

Austen received a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School, graduating with high honors and being inducted into the Order of the Coif.  He holds a B.A. in International Studies and History from American University.  Mr. Walsh is currently admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia.  He speaks Spanish.
