The CLDP team first met with Ambassador Derek Mitchell who conveyed the importance of CLDP’s work as Burma opens to the West and the need for tangible commercial law capacity building engagements with the Government of Burma (GoB). CLDP also met with lawyers for the National League for Democracy and members of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry to discuss CLDP’s upcoming efforts to help improve Burma’s oil and gas legal and regulatory environment.  The CLDP team also traveled to the capital of Napyitaw, where it conducted meetings with the Ministry of Electric Power and the Ministry of Mines and discussed current legal capacity in those ministries.  The message conveyed to CLDP was that the legal team and staff advising GoB's ministries could greatly benefit from CLDP programs.  CLDP concluded its trip with meetings with President Thein Sein's legal advisors and with Ministry of Energy (MOE) and Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE) officials, and also conducted a workshop on “Creating an Environment Conducive to Investment in Myanmar’s Oil and Gas Exploration and Production” for MOE,MOGE and Attorney General staff and Parliamentarians.  CLDP anticipates more programming with MOE and MOGE in Burma in the Spring/Summer of 2013.
