On April 2 and 3, CLDP led a two-day workshop on shale gas implementing regulations in New Delhi, India, as a follow-up to a January visit to the United States for consultations with regulatory authorities by senior officials from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG), Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) and the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MOEF).  

The workshop was attended by Indian oil and gas experts from MOPNG, DGH, MOEF and India's national oil and gas companies. The program focused on best practices in developing implementing regulations and harmonization with the Government of India's draft shale gas policy. Establishing a predictable and transparent policy and implementing regulations will be critical to attracting the best and most experienced shale gas investors for India's shale gas exploration and production, which will play a role in leading India to energy security and meeting its significant energy demand.
