CLDP, in cooperation with the Iraqi State Shura Council, conducted a five-day workshop for Iraqi officials on drafting binding and effective arbitration clauses in contracts. The workshop was attended by legal advisors from several Iraqi ministries who are tasked with drafting and negotiating contracts with foreign companies for goods and services in addition to the transfer of technology and the construction of infrastructure projects. The workshop featured presentations by international experts with practical experience in drafting arbitration clauses and serving as counsel and arbitrators in international arbitrations. At the conclusion of the workshop, the participants requested additional technical assistance and approved a plan to develop a guidebook for Iraqi ministries on drafting effective arbitration clauses.
