On September 17, 2014, CLDP held a Workshop on the Development of the Franchising Sector in Tunis, Tunisia. The workshop, with more than 100 participants, brought together government stakeholders including representatives from the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Economy, and the Central Bank; Tunisian franchisors; and members of Tunisian chambers of commerce. For the past five years, CLDP has promoted franchising as a tool for entrepreneurship and small-business development in Tunisia. This workshop, organized closely with the Tunis Chamber of Commerce and Industry, aimed to facilitate the self-regulation of the franchise sector, prepare a code of conduct for the franchisors and franchisees in Tunisia, and spur the formation of a national franchise association.
