Global Initiatives

CLDP, in partnership with the U.S. Department of State and USAID, conducts global initiatives in key areas of international commerce and development, such as women's economic empowerment, energy infrastructure development, and international commercial arbitration.

Global Energy Transition

As one of the U.S. agencies providing technical assistance under multiple initiatives of the U.S. Department of State, CLDP leverages the expertise of its lawyers and experts to help countries establish commercial law frameworks and improve policies, regulations, model contracts, and guidelines to decarbonize the oil and gas sectors, deliver sustainable energy, and improve the regulatory climate for mineral investment.

Women's Economic Empowerment Initiative

Since 2018, the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) has been actively focused on creating Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) programs. CLDP’s technical assistance strives to improve the legal and business enabling environment for women entrepreneurs, lawyers, and other public and private stakeholders in host countries overseas. CLDP’s WEE programs also emphasize improving economic strategies, laws, systems, and policies to advance economic equality on a structural level in our partner countries, in accordance with U.S. policy and international business practices.

Vis Moot (Commercial Arbitration)

Along with the U.S. Department of State and USAID, CLDP has developed an educational program to train and mentor law school students in oral and written advocacy and international commercial arbitration. Students use this experience to compete in the international Vis Moot where they simulate aspects of the arbitration procedure and the use of international commercial arbitration conventions
