CLDP, in partnership with the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, held a two-day workshop on prevention of investor-state disputes in Tbilisi, Georgia. The workshop focused on drafting and negotiating provisions of agreements between investors and the government of Georgia, focusing primarily on oil and gas and real estate contracts. The audience included participants from the Ministry of Justice and line ministries. The workshop included presentations on investor-state dispute prevention through drafting of clear and unambiguous contract provisions,  negotiations and drafting exercises, and addressed government policies for prevention and management of investor-state disputes. The workshop was planned as a follow-on to an investor-state arbitration workshop organized by CLDP and the Ministry of Justice of Georgia in 2014. The program aimed to assist Georgia in creating in a more predictable and legally compliance business-enabling environment, helping prevent disputes between the government and its partners and attract additional investment capital to the country.
