On May 29 - June 2, CLDP, in coordination with the US Mission to Iraq, ITA, FCS, and the International Franchise Association (IFA), hosted a 5 day program on “Investing in US Franchises” for a delegation of prospective Iraqi franchisees.  The program consist of a two day technical session, followed by consultations and meetings with US franchisees at the International Franchise Expo (IFE).  The technical sessions engaged the delegation in an intensive case study that simulated a negotiation of a master franchise agreement.  The case study was co-written and co-moderated by pro bono franchise attorneys from Gray, Plant, and Moody.  Also, with support from the NYC USEAC, the delegation learned best practices for developing franchise business plans and customized “investment pitches” to prospective US franchisors.  The delegation consists of current franchisees of US, international, and local concepts.
