On November 17, 18, and 19 CLDP conducted an in-person training for Belarusian law students currently studying at the European Humanities University (EHU) in Vilnius, Lithuania focused on international commercial arbitration. CLDP is supporting the participation of a team of students from EHU in the 2021-22 Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition. This will be EHU’s first year competing in the Vis Moot, which is the largest and most prestigious international commercial law moot competition for law students. This initial training with the EHU team introduced concepts of international commercial law and international business to the students to give them a high-level view and understanding for the environment in which these legal issues arise in real practice. The training also focused on improving the students’ analytical, legal research, and legal writing skills as they submit a written memoranda for the moot competition. This program is generally aimed at assisting Belarusian law students to better understand and appreciate rule of law, critical analysis, and international commercial concepts. Through participation in the moot, the students will be well positioned to pursue careers in the field of international commercial law inside or outside Belarus.
