On February 25, 2022, CLDP led a virtual workshop for 13 Guyanese Officials from the Guyana Telecommunications Agency (GTA) and the Guyanese Public Utilities Commission (PUC) with the support and participation of experts from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This workshop focused on best practices in administrative law, specifically in terms of nationwide broadband deployment to target connectivity for underserved rural communities. The workshop is expected to support implementation of Guyana’s 2016 Telecommunications Act and lay groundwork for future collaboration on rural broadband connectivity, network security, and supplier diversity, all of which are paramount to the universal deployment of broadband services. The Embassy published a joint press release with the Government of Guyana, summarizing accomplishments and outlining future collaboration in security and ICT.
