On August 16-17, CLDP conducted a workshop on FIDIC standard contracts for a delegation of Sri Lankan officials from the Attorney General’s Department. The Fédération Internationale Des Ingénieurs-Conseils (FIDIC) produces standard-form contracts that are widely used in the construction and engineering industry for international projects. The workshop included sessions on reviewing FIDIC contracts, effective claim management, and dispute resolution. This workshop was convened in Dubai and built on the foundational FIDIC concepts presented to the Sri Lankans as part of a February 2021 virtual workshop. Following these sessions, participants will be in a better position to identify, negotiate, execute, and implement FIDIC contracts. CLDP’s assistance to Sri Lanka aims to improve transparency and competition for infrastructure projects and create opportunities for foreign direct investment.
