On January 14, 2023, CLDP supported partners, the Legal Aid Society, as they conducted a Workshop on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms for Judges of the Islamabad High Court. The workshop opened with an introduction to mediation, before proceeding to host a mediation simulation and provide practical examples of community mediation in Pakistan. The workshop also discussed with the judges the importance of mediation for Pakistan, and held space for a plenary session on how to promote ADR as a valuable option for parties within the country. CLDP supported this program by traveling expert, Samuel Mbiriri Nderitu, FCIArb, FMIArb, who is both an International Arbitrator and Accredited Mediator & Trainer based in Nairobi, Kenya. This program is part of CLDP’s broader efforts to support ADR practitioners and a culture of arbitration in legal and academic communities in Pakistan.
