On September 19-21, CLDP, in partnership with Mediators Association of Georgia (MAG), will conduct the First Annual Mediation Summer School for Georgian Lawyers. This program represents the first step in CLDP and MAG’s emerging partnership in the pursuit of expanding the use and effectiveness of mediation as a first step in resolving commercial disputes in Georgia. Sessions will focus on the technical provisions of Georgia’s 2019 Law on Mediation, effective representation by counsel in a commercial mediation process, enforcement of a mediation settlement agreement, and anticipated changes to the regulatory framework in Georgia. The program will provide a unique training opportunity for 35 young Georgian lawyers to become effective mediation counsel and leaders in driving mediation’s growth in Georgia, which will provide U.S. firms a more predictable, level playing field for doing business in Georgia.
