From January 22-23, 2026, CLDP hosted a Best Practices in Mining Industry Governance and Licensing workshop in Prishtina. The workshop featured experts from Watson Farley & Williams, a leading international law firm in mining, infrastructure, and transportation, and brought together officials from Kosovo’s Ministry of Economy, the Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals (ICMM), and the Office of the Prime Minister. Participants discussed the mining sector in Kosovo, best practices in licensing/permitting, mining project finance, and mining infrastructure. The workshop was designed to identify key issues in mining governance in Kosovo and to improve the licensing/permitting process, which currently faces delays and backlogs. Improving mining governance and licensing will facilitate U.S. investment in Kosovo.
