What is CLDP?

The Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) is a program of the U.S. Department of Commerce, Office of the General Counsel. CLDP consists of a dedicated team of attorneys, program specialists and management analysts with fluent language abilities and a wealth of international knowledge and experience.

From whom does CLDP receive its funding?

CLDP receives funding via interagency agreements from U.S. Government entities such as the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

With whom does CLDP partner to implement its programs?

CLDP engages experienced attorneys and economists from the public and private sectors as well as university professors and judges to serve as advisors. All CLDP advisors have substantial expertise in the subject of their assignment. Most private sector advisors offer their services on a pro bono basis.

What languages do CLDP staff speak?

CLDP currently employs staff who are fluent in English, Albanian, Arabic, Assyrian, Bosnian-Serbian-Croatian (BSC), Farsi, French, Georgian, German, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Igbo, Indonesian, Javanese, Lingala, Mandarin, Nandi, Pashto, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Taiwanese and Vietnamese.
