CLDP has collaborated with the Government of Egypt on cartel issues dating back to the development of Egypt's Competition Law and the establishment of the Egyptian Competition Authority. Three officials from the Egyptian Competition Authority participated in the International Cartel Network workshop on Cracking Cartels - Recent International Developments on October 27, 2008. CLDP utilized their presence in Portugal to organize an extended program that promotes the objectives below. These objectives are an intermediate step toward achieving greater regulatory transparency and openness to competition. Event Objectives: The main objectives of these consultations are: 1) To equip the participating officials with an in depth understanding of the most current challenges faced by competition authorities throughout the world, and their approaches to facing them. 2) To boost, regionally, an international regulatory dialogue and cooperation in the area of competition. 3) To gain an understanding of the approach in Portugal law schools to teaching Competition Law.
