In continuation of CLDP's technical assistance to the Government of Algeria since 2005 to build the capacity of a core group of experienced judges to adjudicate cases related to the financing of SMEs (small and medium enterprises), CLDP conducted a three-day seminar in Algiers, Algeria, October 20-22. The seminar was led by U.S. and Algerian expert advisers and included a combination of instruction, practical exercises and meetings with heads of Algerian SMEs. As a result, the participating judges developed a strong base of knowledge of the mechanisms and tools of SME financing; harmonized their interpretations of Algerian jurisprudence as related to SME financing; and are better prepared to analyze contracts and commercial transactions.
