On September 20-21, 2011, CLDP initiated cooperation with the State Intellectual Property Service of Kyrgyzstan (Kyrgyzpatent) by co-organizing  a 2-day workshop in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on the role of intellectual property in economic development.  The workshop, which was attended by a mix of participants from business, government and universities, focused on topics relevant to the private sector of Kyrgyzstan, including IP management for small and medium-sized enterprises, IP licensing and assignment, and technology transfer, among others.  Two attorneys of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the IP Attaché from the U.S. Embassy in New Dehli, India contributed sessions to the workshop, in addition to local experts from Kyrgyzpatent, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, the Technology and Innovation Support Center in Bishkek, and the World Bank.
