Azerbaijan: CLDP to Provide Comments to Customs Code

On June 3, CLDP submitted comments with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to the new draft of the Azerbaijan Customs Code to reflect changes necessary to bring the code closer to standards reflected in the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement.  Additionally, CLDP experts further reviewed and responded to sections of the customs code relating to intellectual property rights (IPR) and discussed ways to make the code reflective of TFA principles of transparency and due process. The Azerbaijan Customs Committee made a specific request to the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan for CLDP comments to the draft law as a result of CLDP’s past programming  related to trade facilitation technical assistance in Azerbaijan. U.S. Embassy Baku and CLDP will organize a webinar meeting with Azerbaijan customs officials and CBP experts to discuss comments to the law in the coming month.
