On June 25, in Manama, CLDP met with representatives from the Consumer Protection Directorate of the Bahrain Ministry of Commerce Industry and Tourism to discuss ways of raising the capacity of the staff to implement the recently promulgate Competition Law in Bahrain. The Bahrain Competition Law was modeled after US law, and therefore, the Ministry is eager to learn from US institutions such as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) how to regulate and implement the new Bahrain Competition Law.  In cooperation with the FTC, CLDP plans to conduct competition law training workshops in September and November 2019 for the Directorate.  In early 2020, CLDP will facilitate short externships at the FTC for Directorate staff to learn how the US regulates and implements competition law.
