In collaboration with the Government of Bahrain to prepare for enforcement and regulation of a new Competition Law, CLDP has partnered with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Bahrain Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Trade (MOICT) to conduct a two-day webinar on October 27-28, 2020. MOICT officials learned from the FTC experience regarding competition and consumer protection law enforcement. The webinar was designed to develop practical and substantive skills for competition and consumer protection law, policy, and analysis. Day 1 of the program focused on competition, including sessions on anti-competitive practices during COVID-19, competitive barriers that prevent food security, and merger economic analysis. Day 2 of the program focused on consumer protection, including sessions on how to handle consumer protection complaints during COVID-19, digital issues, and data privacy.
