On August 18 and 19, in close coordination with the State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources (ENR), CLDP conducted a Financial Modeling Workshop for approximately 20 officials from Burma's Ministry of Energy, the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, the Ministry of Finance, the Auditor General’s Office and national oil companies. This second-phase workshop was a follow-on to the first financial modeling workshop that was conducted in January 2014. CLDP Expert, Professor Donald Bellman from the University of Houston presented a revised financial model based on Burma’s current production sharing contract as well as a User Manual to better understand and utilize the model. In addition to explaining the revisions to the model and the User Manual, participants were introduced to how to conduct a basic sensitivity analysis with both automated and manual input exercise. Given the participants’ unanimous agreement that more financial model training is needed, CLDP will look into providing a phase three workshop.
