From December 4-8, 2023, CLDP, in coordination with the Department of State, Bureau of South and Central Asia and the U.S. Trade Representative’s Office, organized the Central Asia Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Working Group meeting on the margins of UNCTAD e-Week. The program fostered a public-private dialogue between private sector women representatives from five countries of Central Asia and policy makers from the region (World Bank sponsored), addressing inclusive digital policies. CLDP organized two workshops focused on private sector women perspective on enabling e-commerce environment in Central Asia and policy recommendations for improving e-commerce ecosystem conducive to small businesses and women entrepreneurs in the region. The program also provided an opportunity for the WEE group to participate in select UNCTAD sessions focused on inclusive digital economy and devise policy recommendations for Central Asian governments’ consideration identifying six key reform areas to shape an inclusive digital trade economy in Central Asia. This program contributes to CLDP’s ongoing efforts and commitment to fostering women entrepreneurship and economic empowerment in Central Asia on a wider scale, ultimately promoting economic growth and inclusion in the region.
