From July 16-18, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, CLDP convened government officials from Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as experts from the office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and Customs and Border Control, to discuss developments in each country toward implementing the intellectual property rights (IPR) criteria of the U.S.-Central Asia Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA).  Delegates reported on highlights from the past year, including Uzbekistan’s removal from the Special 301 Watchlist, as well as new legislation and IPR protocol in most countries.
