Recognizing the manifest need for the coordination of customs administration and the reform of customs policies in the Stability Pact region, CLDP, in coordination with the World Customs Organization (WCO), convened the seventh in a series of regional Customs Coordination and Facilitation Workshops for customs officials since 2003. The purpose of these meetings is to advance trade liberalization through enhanced communication, cooperation, and coordination amongst the region's customs agencies. During the meeting, officials from ten delegations reported on the status of the implementation of the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs procedures (as amended) (revised Kyoto Convention or RKC) and other international and WCO provisions. Delegations also reported legislative reforms that simplified procedures for customs officials and minimized import fees.
